I smoke on the mic like smokin Joe Frazier The hell raiser, raisin hell with the flavor.
You know who else is raising hell? Meltdown + Spectre. In its most simple form, these security threats are exposing a significant flaw in the Intel processor. These two mofos are able to exploit the cornerstone of computer security.
That means, the device you are consuming this blog on - a laptop, desktop, mobile device, hell maybe even Alexa or Google Home -
ALL ARE AT RISK!
As a linux engineer by trade, I ensure the integrity of our enterprise systems. In other words, I work to prevent the potential for a shit storm on servers that need to be online 99.999% of the time. These two threats in particular are a logistic challenge because we are at the mercy of our vendor (Red Hat) to provide the appropriate updates/fixes ASAP, plus we need to not only deploy, but also ensure that the fixes are the same across the different environments we manage. Pain in the ass more than anything considering all applications and users who access them.
Are you at risk? Absolutely, but not as extreme. Just make sure your Mac, Windows, *NIX (bless you if you use it), Android, etc. are kept up-to-date. I also recommend backing up anything and everything to "cold" storage, like an external disk drive (I prefer Seagate). That includes your Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, son.
If your machine starts making jet engine noises and just feels a lot slower than usual, unplug it from the network, and get some tech support quick.
Holla at me if that's the deal. I charge on a per-case basis, but if you mention The HADJI Chronicles, I'll throw in a discount.
