We walked into the the Tampa Bay Curling Summer League with so much swagger , confidence and sex appeal. The ego trip soared sky high and I swear confetti and rose petals began descending from the rafters. We even drew the largest crowd in the stands - not to mention, my parents were there in attendance! But once we got on the ice . . .
. . .you probably know how this ended.
In short, we lost our first match 7-4 against a formidable foe. No excuses, just poor execution and communication. As I began to look back at the tape (yes, I have tape) - we looked the part, but playing the part was a different story. When I saw my dad the next day, he said to me, "Son, I'm still trying to make sense of what we just saw."
What a relief. My ego took a back seat and I began to feel more at ease. For now, I'm taking the "L". We may have lost, but at least we looked good doing it.
As the season continues, The Hadji Chronicles will be airing a documentary series called "STONED." The cameras will follow the squad, The Lords of the House of Chapel, as they embark on the upward climb to curling prosperity.
Here's a quick team photo for the ladies.
